The estadio Hernando Siles in Bolivia is define-tally one that deserves a visit
Capacity: 41,143
Home of: The Bolivian national team, Bolivian football’s biggest rivals Club Bolivar and The Strongest, and several more lower league clubs
Why is it so special? Located 3,601 metres (11,932 feet) above sea level, Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz is one of the highest stadiums in the world.
Why should you go there? The football will literally take your breath away. As a fan, you’ll find that the air is so thin it makes it difficult to cheer your team on, but you’ll still be in better shape than the away team. For instance, the altitude caused Lionel Messi to be sick on the pitch while playing for Argentina in a 1-1 draw here in 2013. And if being so high above sea-level doesn’t intimidate you, maybe this revelation will: the stadium is haunted.
